DOUBT-SELF Ignore the arcane they told me, concentrate on what is. But how can you when human nature dwells on what was, with a silent scream at the opaque reflection of future’s imprecision? Life is the pinnacle of the abstruse: we measure time by our global conflicts, and therein lies a code of honour to legitimise murder. If anything, this must be the most arcane of philosophies, as we bury ourselves in our sin-lined graves alongside the burnished dovetail of history and impotence. I have listened to many voices, I have not opined a jot; I have sat and smiled and held my tongue too long, and if I search out the esoteric and claim it as my first step, that which follows must surely be worthless. So Dare I heed myself.
